Look Out Canon 5D, Nikon’s D800 is On Ya A$$!

…Yes, I do love a provocative title, but even more than that I love a provocative camera like the brand new Nikon D800, which is the first full frame DSLR camera to challenge the Canon 5D’s full-frame DSLR image dominance.

Nikon’s not just bringing matching image quality to Canon’s doorstep , it’s one-upping the Canon 5D with some nice improvements, specifically: 30 minute clip limit (instead of Canon’s 12 minute limit) and a headphone jack that allows you to actually monitor audio when recording to camera.  (And you know how I feel about audio!)  The Nikon D800 retails for about $3,000 sans lens.

Check out the demo and behind the scenes vids below and read more about the pros and cons of the D800 on Philip Bloom’s blog.

If you like what you see and decide to get one, please consider ordering it from the Down and Dirty DV Camera Guide page for the usual low B&H price and help support our blog and podcasts.
